The suburban feedback loop.
The engaging trail: the local trail running behind a suburban development is prepped to grow into a manicured path moving around the quarry. To begin the development, the trail is bent towards the quarry providing direct access from the neighborhood into the new residential park: an emergent respect; progressive reflection; elements of the quarry and elements of the suburbs pivot about the intellectual (read experiential) destinations of the reading room and the observation gallery creating a new community center.

The building injects elements of quarry (research center, specimen shed, working areas, blast observatory) back into the earth, gradually elevating the needs of the residents (trail, bird watching gallery, meeting area, reading room). the two volumes, quarry and suburb, break the facades of their respective origins into a courtyard encouraging dialogue in the community and a prospect of an informed future.
