The entire studio; Nair Biju Ayyappan, Huseyin Bozkurt, Aino Bäckmann Kukkonen, Camila Casotti, Luis Gonzalez Torices, Maja Hodel, Loana Maftei, Thannapat Yingthanaworapatana, Akie Saito, Jacopo Sartore, Lars Mattila, Ilari Airikkala and myself (Gavin Argo) developed a final design.

Consisting of a woven CNC fabricated set of beams all effectively joined using a modified mortice and tennon joint, an overlaid grid connecting the layers, and a set of columns connecting to the ground (and steel base I’d fabricted), we worked over several months in the spring of 2010 to finalize a design, test all parts necessary, fabricate all elements, and assemble.

When finished, we had two built; with one at the “Wood Works” Expo in Fiskars, Finland, and the other participating in the 2010 London Festival of Architecture.
